The University of Colorado Denver is seeking applications for the position of Business Professional to work at the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. This is a part-time position (.6 FTE) with the possibility of becoming full-time (1.0 FTE) dependent on funding. The Kempe Center has built a reputation as a world leader in the field of child abuse and neglect since the first Child Protection Team was established in 1958 and the Center became a Section in the Department of Pediatrics in 1972. The Center is known for its expertise in treating abused children, training future professionals, and for excellence in research, education, advocacy and community service. The Center will be building evidence-based and population need-based mental health services for abused and traumatized children.

Job Responsibilities: The Kempe Center Business Professional performs a wide range of budgeting and accounting services that support the research, teaching and clinical activities of the Kempe Center. Business Professional manages the day-to-day financial activities of the Center, establishing proper fiscal checks and balances so that the Center is always in compliance with University, UPI and Children's Hospital Colorado fiscal policies. Business Professional establishes and conducts ongoing training for faculty and staff on fiscal policy and procedures. Business Professional establishes and monitors budget timelines and related processes for the Center's cost centers, and tracks internal timelines to ensure timely completion of projects under the Center Administrator's direction. General accounting functions include documenting, processing, tracking, reporting and follow up on all financial transactions. Business Professional will support the Center's growing clinical services contracts by overseeing the third-party insurance verification, patient registration and scheduling processes, and ensures that clinical billings are accurate and timely. Business Professional provides guidance to other faculty and staff at the Center on accounting and fiscal matters.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

  • ?Bachelor's degree in a related field to the assignment or equivalent experience and/or training related to the professional services provided can be substituted on a year for year basis for the degree.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience using Microsoft Excel and Access
Desired Qualifications:
  • Two years of advanced experience, knowledge and skills in PeopleSoft (Finance), specific to Accounts Payables functions.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft)
  • Superior time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism and composure under pressure.
  • Three years of experience in academic medical center environment desirable
